Mizh’s consultants have developed custom business strategies and organizational development plans for a variety of projects and contexts. Previous experience includes portfolio development for new markets, targeted in-person representation with potential partners and clients, and tailored strategic plans for community and city-wide initiatives. A list of especially noteworthy strategy projects is included below.
Nonprofit Organizational Development Project
In 2026, Mizh Consultants provided Organizational Development services to a young nonprofit organization focused on support to local Ukrainian communities within the United States. As a new nonprofit with a small staff, this organization invited Mizh to assist with assessments of resources and needs, structuring plans and strategies for organizational growth, and adapting best practices in organization management to allow the nonprofit team to provide the highest quality of services possible to their beneficiaries.
Activities Performed:
- Organizational Needs Assessment of current resources and stress points for the organization to improve the services provided to the community
- Document review of technical programming, financial reports, and existing strategies and plans
- Development of Goals, Objectives, and Indicators for a new Strategic Plan
- Development of Brand Growth and Staff Recruitment plans
- Drafting of Action Plan for implementation of Strategic Plan and other recommendations
- Performed and synthesized research on potential community partners
- Conducted community outreach and initial discussions with potential partners for the organization
- Held weekly working meetings with organizational leadership to update on project progress and plan next steps
- Wrote, submitted, and presented Final Report to organization leadership and the Board of Directors
Ukraine Portfolio Development
In 2022, many firms began looking for business in Ukraine. This project succeeded in establishing a new presence in a hyper competitive market, and resulted in the firm in question gaining on-the-ground representation within 6 months. The firm later won a multi-million dollar contract to work in Ukraine.
Activities Performed:
- Conducted research to find possible connections between the firm and the target market.
- Conducted outreach to individuals and firms with prior relationships to the firm in order to develop leads within Ukraine.
- Interviewed and vetted consultants to develop in-person representation for the firm inside of Ukraine.
- Developed marketing materials for the firm to showcase its technical experience and ability to contribute to projects in the target market.
- Secured multiple Ukrainian partner firms for cooperation on future project proposals.
- Tracked new opportunities, including EOIs, RFPs, and various procurement plans to identity projects for which the firm could bid.
- Traveled to Ukraine in December 2022 to represent the firm at in-person meetings with Ukrainian consultants and potential partner organizations.
Capture and Partnership Management: Iraq Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity
The Iraq Monitoring Evaluation, and Learning Activity (IMELA) was a USAID-funded project that was scheduled to be released in 2025. Capture management for this opportunity lasted from early 2024 until the project was removed from the forecast in early 2025 due to USAID restructuring.
Activities Performed:
- Performed research on potential partners and competitors to evaluate the firm’s chance of winning.
- Assessing CVs of potential Key Personnel for IMELA to identify top candidates.
- Managing outreach to potential partner firms both in Iraq and in other countries.
- Coordinating travel and meetings with partner firms and clients in Iraq, including meetings with UN officials in Baghdad.
- Traveling to Erbil and Baghdad to represent the company at in-person meetings with Ukrainian consultants, clients, and potential partner organizations.
Membership Services Assessment (Oregon)
This assessment focused on the successes and opportunities for enhanced membership engagement and support to member organizations for a large network organization in Oregon. In order to develop and integrate new strategies for enhanced member services of watershed councils focusing on environmental protection and environmental education, the team carried out multiple methods of data collection and analysis before presenting findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Activities Performed:
- Developed strategic goals for the Board and staff to integrate recommendations
- Coordinated logistics of meetings for consultancy team, stakeholders, and network participants, held regular check-ins with consultancy team and providing periodic updates to the client and stakeholders
- Developed interview questions and conducted formal interviews with client stakeholders
- Developing survey questions and constructed online survey using Qualtrics
- Coordinated survey distribution and data collection from member organizations and their staffs
- Conducted data analysis and survey and interview results, developed data visualization via charts, graphs, and tables for the final report and final presentation
- Wrote final report, with specific oversight of data reporting and integration of survey and interview results
- Provided summary of insights to Board of Directors and relevant stakeholders, delivered final report including all insights and recommendations
Climate Action Plan – Silverton, OR (USA)
The Silverton, Oregon, Climate Action Plan was an all-inclusive city planning project designed to improve the city’s impact on the environment and make the city plan more sustainable. As part of that planning process, consultations were done on multiple areas of the planning process and their connection to the environment.
Activities Performed:
- Supervised a team of 4 specialists in charge of assessing and providing recommendations for the Buildings and Energy portion of the Climate Action Plan.
- Facilitated Capacity building of consultant team: Trained consultant teams on project design and management principles, including the development of S.M.A.R.T. Goals and Objectives for inclusion in the teams’ recommendations.
- Interviewed city officials and city workers to map out the current city needs and opportunities for adjustments.
- Crafted recommendations for the Buildings and Energy Sector
- Provided feedback to other sectors, including Food and Agriculture, Transportation, and more.
- Presented all recommendations to the City Council
- Oversaw the drafting, revision, and finalization of the Final Report. Submitted the report to the city.
